After the managerial clear-out that saw Furlani, Tare and Moncada all shown the door in succession (along with the coaching staff), many are wondering whether the same approach will also be applied to the dressing room. A dressing room that will almost certainly lose Rafael Leão, who has himself indicated that he intends to leave after another very difficult season. However, the Portuguese star may not be the only major summer departure from the Rossoneri side of Milan.
Milan, will there be a mass exodus?
One premise must be made. Since there is still no established management structure or clear direction, it is very difficult to predict who will stay and who will leave. But there is no doubt that a situation like this does little to persuade any player to commit to (or continue with) the Rossoneri project. Even more so if that player is Luka Modrić, who was already more than humble in agreeing to join Milan last summer, writes Milan Press. The chances of his future remaining in Milan, now without Champions League football, appear very slim. Likewise, Adrien Rabiot’s prospects of staying also seem low, as he could follow “his” Max Allegri to Napoli.
Milan, a lack of personality:
The departure of two players of this stature would weaken the squad not only in footballing terms but, above all, from a leadership and charisma perspective. That is already a scarce quality within the 2025/26 Milan squad. It is an issue that deserves close attention from whoever takes charge next. For example, there has been talk of Rangnick and his staff. If that were the case, the famous “youth-focused policy” (the hallmark of the Red Bull group) could not do without a few players with personality and experience. Because if there is one area in which recent Milan sides have fallen short, it is temperament. And San Siro, with all due respect, is not the Red Bull Arena.
