Ex AC Milan player Charles De Ketelaere who is part of the Belgian squad for the World Cup in America, scored with a header in a friendly match today against Tunisia (the match ended 5-0).
At the end of the fixture, he granted an interview to Milan News. Here's what he had to say:
Question: How have you developed during these years in Bergamo? Your first year was outstanding... You also received a lot of praise, even from Cassano. He's someone who criticises everyone. Do you know Cassano?
"Yes, yes... (smiles)."
How much have you grown in Bergamo over these years?
"I've grown a lot. I feel like a complete player and someone who can make a difference. This year I've scored a few fewer goals and provided fewer assists, but honestly I've never felt this strong in my overall play. I feel good in general."
What didn't work out at Milan? Was it a move that came too early, the €35 million fee...? Why didn't things go well at Milan?
"I've already said it many times. A lot of things: first and foremost, perhaps I wasn't ready... In general, it was a combination of a couple of factors. But I focus on myself."
Is it a blemish on your career that you didn't score a single goal for Milan? De Ketelaere answered:
"Yes... I'd rather be doing well right now, but that's how it went and I shouldn't keep looking back. Still, I learned a huge amount from that year. I'm three years older now and I feel good."
