Luca Bianchin, a journalist, expressed himself as follows in La Gazzetta dello Sport regarding the construction of the new Milan under Ralf Rangnick:
"What would Ralf Rangnick do if he became the head of AC Milan’s sporting department? Let’s try to answer that in five quick points, based on the information available in recent hours and on his career history. One premise: the mutual interest is there, Milan has approached him, and Rangnick is attracted by the Rossoneri challenge, but both parties have other options. For Milan, there is the Spanish-Argentine route with Mauricio Pochettino on the bench (and not only that). For Rangnick, there is the possibility of renewing his contract with the Austrian Football Association."
Bianchin continued to talk about the Milan-Rangnick situation:
"The first step would be to give the club a corporate identity, a concept that Rangnick has always cared deeply about: establishing a set of guiding principles, making key decisions at the beginning of the project, and adhering to them in day-to-day operations. The Red Bull group explains this very well. Under Rangnick, it had a very distinctive character, with clear principles and a corresponding image. In recent years, Milan, by contrast, has changed considerably, moving from Stefano Pioli’s football to Paulo Fonseca’s positional and attacking style, then to Sérgio Conceição’s more rugged approach, and finally to Massimiliano Allegri’s defensive philosophy. In the transfer market, the club has mixed young players with experienced ones, with different factions operating within the same transfer window on the same team. With Rangnick, for better or worse, it would not be like that."
