Ralf Rangnick and Milan, it is a marriage that is not to be. The Rossoneri hesitated and the deadline has expired: the German manager will remain Austria’s national team coach even after the World Cup.
The latest from Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto on YouTube:
Moretto commented:
"Ralf Rangnick wanted an answer from Milan before the World Cup began. The deadline was this Friday. Rangnick was attracted by the Milan opportunity but also asked for many guarantees, both regarding freedom of authority, sporting management, and staff. He wanted to bring his own team of trusted people in order to develop his project. He did not want interference in certain decisions. Austria agreed to everything in an attempt to renew his contract, and Rangnick was waiting for an answer from Milan. He was attracted by the possibility of going to Milan, but the truth is that Milan had not yet responded and had not provided or guaranteed what Rangnick was asking for, which is why the deadline expired. In effect, Rangnick has decided to remain tied to the Austrian federation; his renewal will be completed in the coming days and therefore he will not go to Milan."
Romano said:
"It was more a matter linked to Milan than to Rangnick: he made his requests, but Milan, in terms of timing, did not want to move quickly when it was necessary."
Moretto's words:
"The presence of Ibra, close to that of Rangnick, given what happened in the past and also the type of working method, role and personality, would not have been easy to make compatible. This was also a factor that pushed Rangnick away from Milan."
