In a moment of great confusion and total organisational instability, with yet another rejection received from Markus Krösche regarding joining Milan’s structure as sporting director and after the only official appointment of Ruben Amorim as head coach for next season, there are also many doubts to be resolved regarding the squad, perhaps too many.
The World Cup in between certainly does not help in gaining clarity about the future of many players in the squad, but it is clear that some situations are more complex than others. Among these, Rafael Leao's is undoubtedly the one raising the most doubts.
After the disappointing debut of the Portuguese national team against the Democratic Republic of Congo, which ended in a goalless draw, and Rafael Leao’s uninspiring appearance around 15 minutes from the end of the match, part of the Italian press has begun to voice new criticism towards him, highlighting a "soft" attitude from the Milan player. In a context already marked by a complicated season, with inconsistent performances, physical issues and statements that have raised more than a few doubts, Leao’s future therefore remains uncertain, as relayed via those Milan Press.

If in the past the Portuguese player enjoyed a central role in the Rossoneri project and was generally held in positive regard by industry professionals, today the picture appears significantly changed. Recent performances and discussions surrounding his form have in fact contributed to altering the perception of the player, who is now at the centre of a more heated debate than in the past.
After recent statements made to a local broadcaster, in which the Portuguese forward suggested he had ended a cycle with Milan after achieving his professional objectives, his future remains entirely to be written. The player’s words have inevitably fuelled questions about how he could be reintegrated into a potential new technical project, especially within a dressing room that may have gone through months of tension and uncertainty.
While on the one hand there are currently no concrete offers for the player, on the other the arrival of Amorim could represent a key factor in the final decision, given that the Portuguese himself has implicitly opened the door to a possible stay, stating that he first wants to focus on the World Cup and then decide what to do about his future, partially contradicting what he had said a few days earlier and opening up a new scenario.
In this general turmoil and with a management still to be built, it now remains to be seen which direction Milan will take, as they are called upon to find a solution that can satisfy all parties involved.
