Italian journalist Riccardo Trevisani spoke to Sport Mediaset about the new Milan under Ruben Amorim and the club’s management:
“As far as Amorim is concerned, for me he is a strong coach, he has ideas, he is capable, he has done exceptional things at Sporting Lisbon, and the same success did not come off for him at Manchester United, but at Manchester United almost nobody has managed anything since Ferguson, a bit like Juventus in recent years. So the problem, more specifically, is more United than Amorim. At Milan he could do well, but the issue is understanding how he will be surrounded, because within a chaotic and disastrous club no coach can do well.”
Amorim must be protected at AC Milan...
“Amorim is more than a good coach. He is someone who has done great things at Sporting Lisbon, he was not able to make an impact at Manchester United, where nobody has done well apart from a few months of Carrick’s spell. Amorim is someone who has shown what he can do and who plays a very different style of football from what Milan saw last year. He is someone who should be protected, looked after and allowed to work. The real question is by whom, and why that has almost never been done in recent years is another major question. Above all, we are talking about people coming from a different world, a different kind of football, and therefore also different timings.”
