Now that the club’s organisational structure has been defined, the new Milan season can officially begin. Ruben Amorim is one of the key figures. The Portuguese coach will have managerial powers and responsibilities, particularly in relation to squad building. Gianluca Di Marzio, speaking on 'Calciomercato - L’Originale on Sky Sport', explains how the former Manchester United manager wants first to closely observe all the players available in the squad before making any decisions:
"Amorim wants to study the squad available in depth before making decisions: the first objective is to analyse the entire group of players before deciding who should leave, stay or arrive."
In the pre-match coverage of France–Iraq on DAZN, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano spoke about Amorim’s intentions for the Milan squad in the transfer market:
"The initial ideas concern the players already at Milan, pending the announcement of targets. At the moment there are many rumours, as always happens when there is a new coach, but in this case Amorim has already made it clear that some key players such as Maignan and Rabiot are players he wants to keep with him, and he has already communicated this internally."
"Then there are also other issues regarding players returning to Milan, for example Musah, who will not be bought permanently by Atalanta, is a player that Amorim wants to take a look at. Jashari, in his plans this year, could become an important player; he wants to see him already in pre-season training camp."
"Then there will be a need to act in the transfer market, on the striker and on the two number 10s to play behind the striker."
