Leao-Milan, the farewell is now effectively on the horizon. Even though, until a few months ago, it seemed there was room for manoeuvre and even the possibility of a contract renewal. This was revealed by Matteo Moretto in a video published on Fabrizio Romano's YouTube channel. Now, however, the Portuguese forward is heading towards a transfer, although he has yet to attract serious interest from major clubs.

"Between January and February, Leão was genuinely very close to extending his contract with Milan. Milan had a renewal offer ready for him that certainly would not have exceeded the club's wage limits. It would not have gone beyond €7 million net per season, including bonuses, which is what Leão is already earning. However, there were favourable terms that would have benefited the player financially, in addition to extending a contract that is currently due to expire in 2028."
Could Leao leave to Saudi Arabia?
"By not renewing Leão's contract, Milan will have to find a solution this summer. Interest from Turkey remains strong: at the moment, Turkish clubs are the ones showing the greatest interest. Then there are the Premier League and Saudi Arabia as options that could emerge over the coming weeks."
