Milan have strengthened their attack with Gonçalo Ramos and are now aiming to do the same in the attacking midfield area. To reinforce this part of the pitch as well, a name that the “old” Moncada and Tare-led Milan had followed with great interest in recent months has resurfaced in the last few hours: Konstantinos Karetsas, the 2007-born player from Genk and the Greek national team. Despite his very young age, he already boasts more than 100 professional appearances between club football and Greece.
Milan-Karetsas: Genk asking for €40 million
This was reported this morning by La Gazzetta dello Sport, which explains that Karetsas, who can play both as an attacking midfielder and as a right-sided winger, only renewed his contract a few months ago until 2029. Therefore, it will not be easy to prise him away from the Belgian club, which values its prized young talent at around €40 million.
There is no shortage of competition, and to prevent a bidding war from developing, Milan would like to try to move ahead of all the other interested parties. The problem is that such a significant investment in the attacking midfield position would only be possible with the sale of Rafa Leão.
Milan-Karetsas: Leão must be sold first
In recent weeks, in addition to announcing his desire to change clubs, the Portuguese forward — who last night ended his World Cup campaign after being eliminated by Spain in the round of 16 — also stated that his dream is to move to the Premier League or La Liga. The downside, however, is that so far no concrete offers have arrived from England or Spain, only requests for information. Without his sale, it will be difficult for Milan to launch an attempt to sign Karetsas.
