It had been in the air for a couple of weeks already, but now confirmation — although not yet the official announcement — has come directly from Croatia: Luka Modrić, according to the Croatian website Germanijak, "has decided to continue his career at Milan. He will sign a new one-year contract with the Rossoneri club in the middle of the week, most likely on Wednesday. Modrić will sign a new deal on the same terms as last season, namely €3.5 million plus bonuses."
Ruben Amorim will surely be pleased, as during his introductory press conference he had spoken about the number 14 in these terms: "I think he is a key player for us, especially at the beginning, to help us have more possession of the ball. I’m not saying he will play every match, but we really want to be able to count on him next season."
Modrić: farewell to the national team?
'Germanijak' also reports that, four days ago, Modrić had lunch in Zadar with newly appointed Croatia manager Bilić.
