The news had been expected for days, and now it is official: Konstantinos Karetsas is a new Borussia Dortmund player. The 2007-born Greek midfielder had been one of AC Milan's targets to strengthen the attacking midfield, but the Rossoneri were beaten to his signature by the German club, which reached an agreement with Genk. Lars Ricken, Managing Director of Sports, says: “With Kos, we’re adding a player to Borussia Dortmund who, at just 18 years old, already possesses tremendous talent. We’re thrilled that we were able to get him excited about our vision, and from the very first moment of our discussions, we could tell that Kos is eager to join BVB. And despite all the talent he already brings to the table, we still see potential in him that we want to help him realize together.”
Sports Director Ole Book emphasizes: “With his creativity and game intelligence, Kos will enrich our team. He is technically very skilled and has the ability to find quick solutions in tight spaces, especially in the final third.”
Karetsas joins the Black and Yellows from KRC Genk. Last season, he played in 34 matches in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League and set up 11 goals. In the Europa League, he reached the round of 16 with Genk, making 11 appearances (2 goals, 5 assists). Karetsas made his debut for the Greek national team in March 2025. In ten matches since then, he has scored three goals and set up another.
