Alphadjo Cissé officially launched himself into the senior Milan team. But, would a loan move be possible to boost to his career?
Cissé, Milan’s new attacking midfielder
After coming through Hellas Verona’s youth academy, he enjoyed an excellent half-season in Serie B with Catanzaro (Liberali was his back-up before the Rossoneri No. 70 suffered an injury), earning a call-up from Milan, who signed him in January for €10 million and left him on loan in Calabria until the end of the season.
He arrived at Milan’s pre-season camp determined to show all of his talent, and Cissé gradually won over Amorim. The Portuguese coach started him in the derby against Inter in Perth and, above all, in the final and most important pre-season test against Manchester United. Cissé impressed with his movements, positioning and the goal that made it 2-2, so much so that Amorim even used him to explain Rafael Leão's possible future:
“I’ve already said that we’re happy to have Rafa, he’s a really expensive player. So we’ll see, but he has to fight. I think Cissé, with the way he played, will make things difficult. Saelemaekers has changed position, so it will be tough. We also have Pulisic coming back. So we have a lot of players fighting for a place.”
Cissé is therefore also in the attacking-midfield mix, with the club awaiting potential developments in the transfer market, both in terms of arrivals and departures.
Cissé’s future: two clubs pushing
Unless Milan decide to send him out on loan. Abate’s Torino, who are very accustomed to working with young players, and Aquilani’s Sassuolo, who already coached Cissé at Catanzaro, have been pushing for his signature for days. Amorim, however, has currently put everything on standby, writes Milannews.it.
For now, Cissé will be useful on Sunday against Torino given the attacking emergency affecting the Rossoneri. And, after performances like this, perhaps it makes more sense to keep him, especially since Amorim has decided to leave players such as Nkunku out of his plans partly to make room for youngsters like him.
