Ruben Amorim continues to write the opening chapter of his Milan tenure and, after five league games, there is already a statistic that puts him directly into the Rossoneri's history books. The Portuguese coach remains unbeaten in Serie A, with three wins and two draws: a start that had not been seen for almost half a century.
Amorim joins Carniglia and Liedholm
The former United coach is only the third foreign manager in Milan's history to avoid defeat in each of his first five league matches. Before him, Luis Carniglia and Nils Liedholm had achieved the feat, both in the 1963/64 season: the former recorded three wins and two draws, while the latter managed four victories and one draw, as relayed via Milan Press.
A record not seen since 1979
Among all Milan managers, Amorim is the first to reach this milestone since Massimo Giacomini, who began the 1979/80 season with two wins and three draws. Forty-seven years have passed since then. Today, Amorim's Milan can head into the international break with a smile, not so much because of the statistic itself, but because of the positive signs they have shown.
