Paolo Condò, writing in Corriere della Sera, commented on the results of the seventh round of Serie A, also focusing on Ruben Amorim’s Milan:
“The seventh round was a taste of spring, when league fixtures fall between two European matches, and it produced significant results that cannot be separated from the European context. The positions of Allegri and Spalletti are under discussion, as are those of Sarri, Runjaic and De Rossi, more or less explicitly, in a season that has already seen four managerial changes in two months. Instability is widespread, but be careful: apart from Nicola’s spectacular debut in Venice, no change of manager has yet brought about a leap in quality. We feel we can suggest one guiding principle, especially to the directors of clubs competing in Europe: with a match every three days, decisions should be postponed until 9 November, the next international break. Stay strong in the face of the avalanche of #out hashtags engulfing coaches (and obviously involving you as well), and grant them this final stretch of time."
Amorim staying was a good decision for Milan
"Not throwing Amorim overboard was a wise decision; Milan are improving. It must be said that the period of learning has not caused serious damage to their league position. The coach is adding minutes to his incisive fencing, and in Rabiot he has found a leader. Not all the minutes yet, hence Atalanta’s near-comeback, but enough to get a result in Bournemouth and get back on track in Europe as well.”
