Inter is ahead of Milan, even in terms of the millions earned. But this is a ranking that doesn’t displease anyone. Reaching the Round of 16 in the Champions League is worth a fortune. By guaranteeing a fourth position, the Inter club can already count on 85 million euros in earnings, to which they can add another 2.1 million euros, to be precise, by defeating Monaco in their final match.

Milan, meanwhile, is operating with slightly lower but still impressive figures: 73 million euros if they remain in sixth place and thus reach the Round of 16, plus an additional 2.1 million euros by winning in Zagreb. A derby with no losers.

UEFA prizes are now more lucrative: the new format has generated almost 4.5 billion euros in revenue and a prize pool of 2.5 billion euros for the 36 finalists. The club, thanks to their ranking and the market pool, are leading among the five Italian teams. Here's the breakdown:

  • Participation guarantees a fixed share of €18.6 million.
  • Tournament results add another €11.2 million.
  • Then there’s the historical ten-year ranking, worth €8 million for Inter.
  • The market pool for the Inter club is over €25 million.
  • Finally, the ranking: fourth place is worth €9 million, a spot among the top eight adds another €2 million, and qualification to the Round of 16 provides €11 million.

Result: 85 million euros and some change. By defeating Monaco, it would exceed 87 million euros. Winning the cup would be worth over 140 million euros for Inter, excluding ticket sales, sponsorships, and related revenues.

Milan with 73 million euros

The Rossoneri club starts from a lower market pool (less than 18 million euros) and a significantly lower ranking (4.5 million euros). Their performance-related earnings are also lower: 10.5 million euros.

The participation quota is fixed at 18.6 million euros. As for results: sixth place is worth about €600,000 less. With bonuses and the Round of 16, the total reaches €73 million, which can become €75 million by defeating Dinamo on Wednesday. Winning the cup would bring in over 130 million euros.

Atalanta – 77 million euros

With this ranking one round from the end, Milan is actually in third place for earnings among Italian teams. Ahead of them is Atalanta, in seventh, but with a superior market pool and ranking. Currently, the prize pool for Gian Piero Gasperini's team is €77 million. Needless to say, a win against Barcelona would push their total to €79 million.

Juventus & Bologna

Juventus, currently 17th, cannot consider the €11 million for the Round of 16. They have a good market pool (about €19.5 million), the best historical ranking (€10 million), the lowest performance-related earnings (€8.4 million), and a position in the standings that guarantees them "only" €6.5 million, including a bonus for being eliminated in the playoffs. Their total is €63 million, which could become €65 million by beating Benfica. Reaching the Round of 16 would bring it to €76 million.

Finally, Bologna, though last, isn’t doing too badly: they’re guaranteed around €30 million, with Sporting contributing a couple more.
