Regarding the stadium issue, today's edition of Corriere dello Sport headlines:
"San Siro to the clubs: the city also benefits."
Today is the crucial day for the City Council vote, which will decide whether to approve the resolution to transfer San Siro to Milan and Inter.
Alessandro F. Giudice writes: "The debate in the Milan City Council on the sale of San Siro reached frankly pitiful levels. The most far-fetched arguments were unleashed to sabotage a deal the two Milan clubs desperately need, but from which the city of Milan would gain benefits that are unclear only to those who do not want to see them." He continues: "It is hard to know how the San Siro saga will end, whether the opponents will prevail or the two clubs will be able to proceed with a massive investment that would redevelop an entire neighborhood. Certainly, the quality of the opposing arguments is low."
"The impression is that some are betting that, in the end, Milan and Inter will not leave the city, accepting a renovation project already long rejected. It is a deadly gamble, where the risk is leaving Milan with a useless and costly ruin. It would not be a glorious ending—indeed, it would be the definitive desecration, of a stadium everyone claims to want to defend at all costs."
