AC Milan dream of signing Virgil van Dijk. The Liverpool defender and captain is a player Zlatan Ibrahimović is keen on, having begun to nurture the idea as early as the spring. But how realistic is an operation that appears, at first glance, to be extremely complicated? Luca Bianchin, journalist for La Gazzetta dello Sport, spoke to MilanNews.it about the matter.
Will Ibrahimović's idea of bringing Van Dijk to Milan ever develop into actual negotiations, or will it remain just an idea?
"It's difficult to say. At Gazzetta, we reported what we learned: in the spring, Ibrahimović openly told the club that he wanted to bring Van Dijk to Milan, and the idea reached Cardinale. From this point on, everything will depend on the financial assessment and on the possible response from Virgil and Liverpool."
Is there a genuine desire (and ambition) from the club to try to give Amorim a player of that calibre?
"Cardinale changed his approach during the summer, as everyone noticed: he stopped delegating and began taking action himself, not just making decisions, after speaking with his working group. Gonçalo Ramos shows that some of the club's previous parameters have changed, and there is a real desire to demonstrate that they can do things well."
