AC Milan drew 2-2 against Celtic in their first summer friendly in Glasgow. Francesco Camarda’s brace proved decisive, as he overturned the two-goal deficit from the first half at the start of the second period. After the match, head coach Ruben Amorim spoke to Sky Sport 24 from inside Celtic Park.

A general comment on the match? Amorim answered:

"The lads tried to do the work we need to do. It wasn’t easy today. I had the feeling that I saw a team that wanted to change its intensity. We should have put in a better performance at certain moments, especially when we conceded goals, but that is normal after just two weeks of training."

There seemed to be two different matches: one in the first half and one in the second...

"Sometimes it happens like that. When we conceded the first goal, it did not help the team. In the second half, we started much better. It had a big impact on the game: conceding immediately in the first half and scoring immediately in the second."

How do you judge Camarda’s performance and his brace?

"Camarda has to stay with us. I believe a lot in him and in the young players who are working with us. I don’t want to talk about individuals, but what I can say is that Camarda will remain with us this season."

Amorim, what did you ask from the team from a technical and tactical point of view?

"We tried to keep the ball. We struggled a little because we pressed all over the pitch: we need to add that to the team and improve it. Physically, we will get better and we will understand the game better. This idea is not fully inside the team yet, but it is there. The game needs to be controlled better through possession. Sometimes it takes a long time to get to the other side, but it takes some time."

What are your feelings after these first two weeks of work?

"The first thing is the commitment and the work done during these weeks. The staff is prepared for everything, and I am very happy with everything. If you have a team that works as hard as this, we will certainly improve. We have many players who are not with us, but I am very happy to see the young lads."

How is Mario Gila?

"Gila felt something, but I don’t think it is anything serious. I hope and believe he will recover soon."
