Gerry Cardinale, owner of AC Milan and founder of RedBird, has spoken to the media in view of the presentation of 'Air' movie, which its plot is about how 'Nike' pursued Basketball rookie Michael Jordan and how the partnership started.
Here are some of his words, as he also mentioned the AC Milan club:
"As we are rapidly moving towards technologies that are changing the patterns of fan content consumption, this film is a perfect representation of the convergence between sports, media, and culture - my three rings of the Venn Diagram at the core of my investment approach. People like us must be catalysts for this evolution. Change cannot be expected to happen on its own, but rather we must actively seek it out much earlier. There is a role to be played for institutional capital and expertise in building businesses like ours. It's not just about bringing in capital and growing revenues, but about leveraging our skills to create partnerships that can anticipate the future."
Gerry Cardinale continued:
"Culture and individuals are becoming increasingly intellectual property in and of themselves. There is a great fragmentation taking place in sports and media that creates gaps. Today, sports is only one leg of a stool, which is not enough to keep it from falling. Hence the search for new models, which I contribute to building, to bridge the gap. I am convinced that even AC Milan will benefit greatly from this vision and our commitment."
