Another the AC Milan Women’s team player gave a very entertaining interview as Striker and team capitan Valentina Giacinti spoke briefly to Radio Rossonera, offering some insights on her childhood, hopes, and dreams.
Luckily for us, the dolls head were much more useful as footballs.
"Yes! it is true! when i was a child people always gave me dolls as a gift, they were not wrong, but, you know, when they gave me these dolls, i am a rebel, you know, so I played football with them, using their heads as balls."
On the absence of fans at stadiums
"Look, the affection of the fans, even when they are not at the stadiums we feel, we hear them. I can't wait to open the stadiums to dedicate ourselves to them, it's one of the best things in the world to see or play a match with the stadium full."
On being a symbol in the Women’s football in Italy
"It is not a burden for me, it is a motivation to do even more, to make the women’s football grow even more for the young players who will come and for the future of the sport in our country and worldwide. I'm happy and it stimulates me more."
The “Ibra” of the AC Milan Women’s team?
"No. I don't feel like Ibra, but I feel valued by the club, by my teammates it is very important for a player, it allows you to play well, to do even more on the field. I feel confident and I still want to give a lot more for the team."
On her role model as a striker
"Look, when I was a kid, the player I liked to see Bobo Vieri play, so I followed him and it didn't matter where I played. When I grew up, I started to like Alvaro Morata's style of play a lot, but I'm lucky to play in a team that Van Basten wore the number 9 and that's something."
On the possibility of winning the Champions League title
"I believe it is possible, but that would be a real starting point for women's football in Italy. I am aware that this may still take some time, but little by little we are evolving, improving our game and we are very happy because people are following us and this is the cool thing, to awaken people's interest, that they start to believe in football and that let us have the same attention as the male teams because it is the same sport, everything is football, it is played a little differently but it is football."
Could Milan win the scudetto this season?
"Who knows? Perhaps! It would be really wonderful; we will continue working on it and gradually, I’m sure we will get there."
