The European Super League continues to be discussed, despite the project being wrecked even before seeing the green light. The controversies or threats in some cases affect all components at 360 °. And now, from the battle against UEFA, the fight seems to have moved directly within the participating clubs. The New York Times writes it, which reconstructs what happened and is happening after the failure of the Super League. According to the US newspaper, in fact, a real legal battle is underway.
Juventus, Real Madrid, and Barcelona at the base there would be two letters: one for renouncing the Super League, imposed by UEFA, which would have already been written down by eight clubs, and another of threats and retaliation towards those who abandon the project definitively, to which three founding clubs would remain anchored, namely Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona. The New York Times tells of imminent legal actions (with serious financial consequences) by the three mentioned clubs against the other nine (the six English, plus Inter, Milan, and Atletico Madrid).
Juventus, Barcelona, and Real Madrid want to show that current football rules are incompatible with competition and free trade laws. In their letter sent on Thursday, concludes the NYT - the clubs accused the teams who have publicly declared their intention to leave the Super League of having committed a "material violation" of the agreement between the founders. The letter warns that complicating the situation by signing a declaration declaring loyalty to UEFA would lead to significant damage.
