Paulo Dybala is now a new AS Roma player. He made the move to the capital on a free agent as his deal with the Bianconeri has expired. An agreement for a renewal with Juventus could not be found and the 28-year-old was left looking for a new club.
Inter were first understood to be keen on the player and even were said to be very close to signing him. However, they went cold right after signing Romelu Lukaku. Giuseppe Marotta said to the media regarding the Argentine star: "However, we’re all set in attack right now and have a group of great players up front. I’ve still got a lot of affection for Paulo. The respect I have for him is still there", as relayed by The Athletic.
The English website also adds that AC Milan, like Inter, have also left Paulo Dybala "high and dry":
"Across the city, the new champions gave some thought to an approach. It’s no secret they could use a player who floats between positions on the right wing and between the lines. In the end, though, AC Milan stayed true to themselves, pursuing Club Bruges’ Charles De Ketelaere, a 21-year-old who aligns with the club’s recruitment principles. Another Rafael Leao, Theo Hernandez, Fikayo Tomori or Pierre Kalulu. It all left Dybala high and dry."
