AC Milan‘s starting midfield is still a very strong one even despite the exit of Franck Kessié last summer as he chose to join FC Barcelona as a free agent.
The Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport in today’s print edition spoke highly of Pioli’s midfield pair Sandro Tonali and Ismael Bennacer.
As per the source, the Italian and the Algerian are the total midfield pairing in the Serie A. There is important chemistry between them and this is proved by numbers: Average points of 2.50 per game for AC Milan when they start together. None of the other midfield pairs in Serie A can boast the same points average as Ismael Bennacer and Sandro Tonali.
Then, there is also Brahim Diaz: he’s also showed improvements. Another successfull experiment by head coach Stefano Pioli to transform him in a modern number 10 who now tends to play more like a number 8, similar to world class players such as Luka Modric, Kevin De Bruyne and Antoine Griezmann.
