Ignazio Abate spoke after the incredible victory in the Youth League of his Milan Primavera against PSG. Here are his impressions on the match to our microphones.
"I am very satisfied for the boys, for how the victory came about. Then the satisfaction is doubled for the heart and the sense of belonging. On the other hand, I am furious for conceding a goal thirty seconds from the end. In the first half, we were in total control, but we didn't have the ruthlessness to close the game. We could have gone up 3-0, but at 1-0 we hesitated. We defended with complacency, reaching their penalty area with ease due to our good ball movement. We were a bit ineffective, and we conceded two counterattacks with goals. It was a tough game also because of their intensity, but in the end, the team that deserved to win, despite the many absences, came out on top. Now we think about Sunday, the break comes at the right time. We will catch our breath given the many matches. We must give credit to the boys, who work hard every day with intensity. The path is the right one, we are growing but we must not lose our hunger."
On Francesco Camarda, Abate said:
"I am objective in things, I don't have to protect anyone. The boys need to develop themselves. He has very important qualities, but I'm afraid he will have too much pressure on him because there are comparisons that are not realistic. At fifteen years old, you need to grow, then he's in this category and it's news: there's a long way from here to becoming a real player. He has a great character, he's hungry, but we have to let him grow. He will face difficulties, but we know that. He needs support in those moments. The talent is his, I didn't teach it to him. Today he made a move like a great player. Then he needs to improve in many things, but he can aspire to become an important player. I wish that for him as for everyone, I am very emotionally attached to all of them. I have to push everyone for their own good."
