Yesterday afternoon, Alessandro Florenzi appeared before the Public Prosecutor's Office in Turin. The conversation with the public prosecutor Manuela Pedrotta last just over an hour.
The Milan player assured that he had never bet on football but had only placed money on other games, including roulette. If confirmed, this situation is more similar to Nicolò Zaniolo's case than to Fagioli and Tonali, who bet on football and were consequently disqualified by the Public Prosecutor of the FIGC.
As per the report from the daily Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport in this morning's edition, it seems that Florenzi faces a potential fine from a legal perspective for betting on illegal sites, but from a sports perspective, he will not be punished.
This will happen only if his statements are confirmed, meaning he has never bet on his sport, football. The Milan fullback was implicated by chats found on one of the electronic devices seized from the other three players. His name reportedly emerged during the investigation.
The former AS Roma player is represented by the same lawyers of Nicolo Zaniolo, and they are Antonio Conte and Gianluca Tognozzi. They explained after the meeting with the public prosecutor and said:
"Florenzi clarified his position, reiterating absolute non-involvement in any type of football betting. No evidence or allegations in this regard have emerged. He admitted to playing on illegal platforms and provided all the clarifications requested by the prosecutor to settle his position as soon as possible."
Alessandro Florenzi remains calm.
Before being questioned, the 32-year-old Italian assured Milan and his agent Alessandro Lucci that he had never bet on football. The player is described as calm, to the extent that he trained at Milanello yesterday morning before heading to Turin.
