During the SportMediaset Pressing broadcast, there was a heated argument between the journalist Franco Ordine and former referee and pundit Graziano Cesari. Ordine was advocating his argument on the significant role of technology in deciding to award the penalty to Atalanta for the contact in the box between Giroud and Holm in the match between Atalanta and Milan: "Orsato awarded that penalty there, if it wasn't called by VAR, he wouldn't have given it even under torture."
Graziano Cesari's response was immediate and vehement, as relayed via Calciomercato.com
"But don't speak like that, you have a short memory, and I'll refresh it immediately. Look at the Rome derby in the Coppa Italia and the penalty given to Lazio for a slight foul, Orsato gives it because he was called by VAR. You're just making conspiracy theories, and I don't like it, you're doing and have been doing bad journalism."
"You have to apologise to me", Ordine repeats several times, then clarifies: "Graziano Cesari has to apologise to me, because I said that Orsato wouldn't have given that penalty there, including the one in Rome, without VAR intervention, not even under torture."
"You added that later, after I showed you the footage", Cesari insists. "I'm sorry to say this, but Orsato referees with the rulebook in his pocket, like all referees do."
