Three confirmations are worth a truth.
After Ibrahimovic and Furlani, Paolo Scaroni also reaffirmed his trust in Stefano Pioli.
The news is that in all likelihood Stefano Pioli will be the coach of AC Milan again next season. The rumours about Antonio Conte, even given for certain as the next coach of the Rossoneri team following meetings and conversations with the Rossoneri management, which have never taken place to date, have remained so, just rumours.
Milan will continue with Pioli. There is no reason to change coach at the moment, since the Milan coach is achieving all the goals that the Rossoneri club had set for him, that is, qualification for the Champions League and that of moving forward in Europe, be it the Champions League or the Europa League.
The consolidation of second place would also allow Milan to play in the Super Italian Cup in Saudi Arabia (for the club it would be another important income). The comeback over Juventus in the last two months has made all the difference in terms of Pioli's confirmation.
'Pioli must continue as he is doing, he is doing a good job, we are happy with him' - Ibrahimovic had said. And that's the way it is. It would make no sense to change a coach who, by the way, has always shown that he also keeps the locker room well.
Pioli's relationship with the players is exceptional and lately he has filed down the only flaws that the club saw: injuries. With a team effort with the club, Pioli was able to reverse this trend from the beginning of the championship, which had recorded very annoying numbers in terms of injured players, who had mainly suffered muscle injuries. Since the beginning of 2024, Milan have been playing with practically the whole team at their disposal (as of today, only Pobega is unavailable, but he too will soon return).
"We will solve the injury problem together', Pioli had declared, and also confirmed by the club. And so it was. Another aspect that the club liked was that they made good use of all the players that arrived from the market: just think of Ruben Loftus Cheek who has already scored ten goals so far, not to mention Christian Pulisic or even Samuel Chukwueze. The Nigerian is the latest player revitalised by Pioli after the bad start to the season.
Winning a European semi-final for the second year in a row would mean confirmation for Pioli and, then, the start of dialogue for a contract renewal that appears, to date, well-deserved.
If things continue like this at the end of the season we will obviously have to talk about it. But the real situation is that to date Milan have not spoken concretely with any coach. And there are no negotiations with other coaches, such as Antonio Conte. Pioli will be Milan's coach for the next Serie A campaign too, unless there are sensational twists and turns. That is Milan's will.
