After a long casting, Milan seems to have made its choice for the bench: barring last-minute surprises, it will indeed be Paulo Fonseca taking over Stefano Pioli's position at the helm of the Rossoneri.
With him, the Rossoneri should play with the 4-3-3 formation, and according to Tuttosport, a new starter will be needed for each department.
The top priority, as known, is a top striker who will replace Olivier Giroud, who leaves Milan in favour of joining LA FC in the MLS. The major investment will be made in this role, but it's not the only reinforcement the Rossoneri need: they also require a central defender, preferably left-footed, to partner with Fikayo Tomori, a right-back who will compete for the starting spot with Davide Calabria, and a physical midfielder to be placed as a shield in front of the defence.
The names on Milan's shortlist:
In terms of names, there are several players currently linked to Milan: for the attack, for example, the number one target is Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, but among the Rossoneri executives' list, there are also Benjamin Sesko, Jonathan David, and Serhou Guirassy.
The big dream in defence, however, is Alessandro Buongiorno from Torino, while for the right-back position, Fonseca could bring Tiago Santos from Lille with him.
In midfield, among the names frequently linked to the Rossoneri, there are those of Youssouf Fofana from Monaco and Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina.
