Today, 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' reported in a transfer market analysis that, surprisingly, Bologna has decided not to exercise the buyout option for Alexis Saelemaekers, who played for Thiago Motta's team last season on loan from Milan.
Last year, the Belgian midfielder, born in 1999, moved on a paid loan (500,000 euros) with a buyout option (9.5 million euros), and after a positive season (32 matches between Serie A and Coppa Italia with 4 goals and 3 assists), it seemed certain that Bologna would exercise their right to sign him permanently.
Bologna's new coach, Vincenzo Italiano, has different plans, however. Therefore, Saelemaekers has returned to Milan. According to the Italian newspaper, he is unlikely to stay there. The Rossoneri club management and his entourage will mainly explore the English market to find a new destination, preferably on a permanent basis and for a higher fee.
