A new name emerging, reported by Il Corriere dello Sport, is Mario Gila. The 2000-born defender from Barcelona is in a special situation at Lazio, where he is a key player under Maurizio Sarri. His contract expires in summer 2027, and so far there seems little chance of a renewal, given interest from other clubs, including Inter, which might lose Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij at the end of the season. Gila’s agent Alejandro Camano, who also represents Lautaro Martinez, has a strong relationship with Inter.
Without a contract extension, Gila risks finishing the current season with only one year left, reducing Lazio’s negotiating power. The club also faces liquidity issues and other financial limits that blocked signings in the last window, making Gila a potential asset to generate funds for completing Sarri’s squad.
