Regarding the investigation into referees, today’s edition of *Repubblica* headlines:
"Rocchi intercepted, brings an Inter official into the conversation over the phone."
The newspaper explains that Gianluca Rocchi (as well as Andrea Gervasoni) had been under wiretap for more than a year, and it is precisely from one of these recordings that it emerged that on 2 April 2025, at San Siro, the former referees’ chief, while speaking on the phone with someone from the sector, mentioned an Inter figure, namely the operative responsible within the club for managing relations with referees on a match-by-match basis.
'Repubblica' writes: "According to the prosecutor’s office, this very intercepted phone call is crucial in constructing the charge against Rocchi, who is accused of complicity in sporting fraud with other individuals. This is because, in that conversation, the former referees’ chief is said to have indicated which refereeing decisions would be welcomed or not by the Nerazzurri club, understood to be represented by Giorgio Schenone (not under investigation). According to the prosecution, as a result of this influence, whether exercised directly or indirectly remains to be determined, the former chief would have appointed two referees specifically for the purpose: Andrea Colombo, ‘favoured’ by Inter for the match against Bologna on 20 April, and Daniele Doveri, less appreciated by the club and therefore ‘assigned’ to the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final in order to ‘screen off’ the possibility that he might officiate a potential final and further matches involving Inter later in the season, with the club competing for the title (ultimately won by Napoli)."
