In the minutes following the final whistle of Milan–Atalanta 2–3, yet another shameful performance by the Rossoneri, who now risk more than ever missing out on a Champions League place, there were many reactions to the match at San Siro. Among them was that of journalist Alfredo Pedullà, who wrote the following on his Instagram profile: “Only Allegri’s biographers, those two or three who would celebrate a Champions League finish as if it were a World Cup win, have not understood (or pretend not to) that his teams are an empty box. And that from February onwards you often witness a collapse because there is not even the bare minimum of organisation, the ABCs. When you defend well and counter-attack, you can often still pick up results, even with a bit of luck.”
Pedullà added:
"And with a few incidents, another five minutes and perhaps tonight they would have drawn. The meaning of the argument does not change. But when, over time, you have to ‘live’ on a minimal idea of football, you get exposed. It’s not there. Allegri was a great manager of champions. And he won. Tell that to the biographers.”
