Uncertainty continues to surround AC Milan. Six days have passed since the sweeping dismissals that marked the aftermath of the final matchday of the season: Allegri, Furlani, Tare, and Moncada were all shown the door.
At the moment, Milan still finds itself without a head coach and, even more importantly, without a CEO, technical director, or sporting director. Over the past six days, numerous rumors have emerged, especially regarding the coaching position, but no concrete move has been made. There have also been some rejections from potential managerial candidates, most notably Iraola and Xavi. There has been some progress in the search for a technical director, with Ralf Rangnick emerging as the leading candidate, though no agreement has been finalized.
Ibrahimović's doubts about Rangnick
From the outset, Gerry Cardinale and Zlatan Ibrahimović contacted Ralf Rangnick, the German coach who will soon lead Austria at the World Cup. RedBird's ownership group is not considering him for the coaching role but rather as head of the club's technical area.
Today, Corriere della Sera attempted to clarify the situation with the headline: "Milan, Slot Added to the Shortlist. Ibrahimović Has Doubts About Rangnick's Role." The subheading adds: "Zlatan fears the German guru could wield too much power."
In fact, Rangnick is reportedly seeking full authority over the sporting side of the club, including the appointment of the sporting director, the head coach, and the overall transfer-market strategy. However, the Rossoneri's Senior Advisor for RedBird, Zlatan Ibrahimović, is said to be unconvinced by this arrangement.
