Oliver Glasner wants AC Milan at all costs, and his representatives reiterated this yesterday during a new meeting with the Rossoneri club: the Austrian coach has said yes to Milan and has even set aside an offer from Feyenoord because he wants to take charge of the Milan bench. Now all that is missing is the final approval from Gerry Cardinale, Zlatan Ibrahimović, and Massimo Calvelli, the people who have been leading discussions with coaches and executives following the complete reset that took place two weeks ago.
Glasner wants only AC Milan
This morning, Corriere dello Sport reports that Glasner is absolutely convinced about moving to Milanello and would like to seize the opportunity to manage a top club for the first time in his career. The fact that there was another meeting between the parties yesterday, following last Tuesday’s lengthy six-hour discussion, confirms that the Austrian made a positive impression and that Milan appreciates his footballing philosophy. If he were to arrive, the former Crystal Palace manager would also need to overcome the long-standing curse of foreign coaches, who have almost always failed at Milan (the recent examples of Fonseca and Conceição have reinforced this view).
New phone calls with Rangnick
In addition to their contacts with Glasner, the Rossoneri club has also held further phone conversations with Ralf Rangnick, who is currently in the United States with Austria ahead of the World Cup. The Austrian Football Federation has offered him a contract extension until 2028, but he appears to be very intrigued by the possibility of becoming Milan’s new technical director. However, his conditions for accepting the role are very specific: he wants to operate freely without interference or obstacles, full backing from the ownership for his project, and the ability to reshape the organisational structure by appointing trusted personnel. If Cardinale were to agree to these conditions, the deal would go through.
