Matteo Moretto has updated the situation regarding the search for AC Milan’s new sporting director during an appearance on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel. The journalist outlined the work the Rossoneri club is carrying out to complete the restructuring of its organisational chart, stressing that the club is now leaning towards a very clear choice.
According to Moretto, AC Milan are working on identifying an Italian sporting director, someone who can immediately fit into the executive structure and take on an operational role straight away.
An immediately operational profile:
Going into detail, Moretto explained that work continues at Casa Milan on developments in the new corporate structure. "I reiterate the point, we are trying to report on what is happening with the work at Casa Milan regarding the reorganisation of the organisational structure," he said.
Moretto then added an important detail about the profile being sought by Gerry Cardinale's club: the new sporting director must hold the necessary qualifications to be able to operate immediately within the club’s structure. "AC Milan are looking for an Italian sporting director who can take charge of the situation immediately, both from a legal point of view and in terms of knowledge of the domestic market," he explained, as relayed via Milan Press.
Possible developments in the coming days:
Finally, Moretto suggested that a decision may not be far away. "We could have a name as early as next week," he concluded. This statement suggests that Milan are now in the final stages of their decision-making process. After weeks of evaluations and contacts, the Rossoneri club could be close to definitively settling on a key figure for its new executive direction. The coming days, in this sense, could prove decisive.
Why an Italian profile:
The choice of an Italian sporting director would not be accidental. After various attempts made in recent weeks and the need to identify someone immediately operational, Milan are considering a profile with experience in Italy and a deep understanding of the dynamics governing the domestic market. The aim would be to rely on an executive capable of immediately managing relationships with clubs, agents, and institutions, while also ensuring continuity during the transitional phase. This could also be a temporary solution, while the club completes the broader restructuring of its sporting department planned for the future.
