The intentions regarding AC Milan’s transfer market appear to be clear, at least from the perspective of the hierarchy of targets. After appointing the coach, the first signing was Gonçalo Ramos. And it was no small deal: the Devil spent €74 million plus bonuses, the most it has ever paid in its history. With the attack now settled, Cardinale wants to shore up the defence by bringing in another player requested by his coach Ruben Amorim, one of his protégés. This player is Gonçalo Inácio: the first, but not the only, candidate.
The first name on Cardinale’s list, at Ruben Amorim’s direction, is Gonçalo Inácio. The Portuguese centre-back, born in 2001, is one of the key players from Sporting Clube under Ruben Amorim. He is a player whom Amorim helped develop during their time together in Lisbon, and who continued to progress even after the coach left for Manchester. According to Corriere dello Sport, Sporting have already opened the door to a sale at a figure below his €60 million release clause. The Leões would be willing to let their defensive talent leave for €40 million, but no less. This figure is still considered somewhat too high by Milan, who would like to negotiate it down slightly: it is unlikely Sporting will offer any further discount; in fact, at present it is ruled out entirely.
Gila is among the alternatives for Milan
In recent hours, the name of Mario Gila has risen back up the list, re-entering the frame as a possible summer signing after having been previously assessed by the Tare-Allegri duo before the dismissal. The Spanish centre-back appeared destined for Napoli, but the club has yet to reach an agreement with Lazio and must also reduce its squad size. Milan are looking to take advantage of this situation and Napoli’s delay. Among the names still on the list is another Portuguese player, António Silva of Benfica, as well as Argentinian Lisandro Martínez, who Ruben Amorim coached during his time at Manchester United, as relayed via Milannews.it.
