The official confirmation of Adrien Rabiot’s registration with Milan came before 7 PM from Lega Serie A, which announced that it had received all the necessary documentation. But already since Sunday, there were no longer any doubts about the union between the midfielder and the red and black club.

Yesterday afternoon, the former Juventus player underwent medicals at the American Hospital of Neuilly-sur-Seine, a private clinic on the outskirts of Paris. A member of Milan’s medical staff traveled to France to oversee the tests, paving the way for the signing of a contract until 2028, with an option to extend until 2029. The player then returned to the national team camp, where coach Deschamps explained in a press conference: "We gave him time to do the medicals and sign with Milan. It’s important that he found a team suited to him."

Rabiot and the champions bonus

In 2025–26, Rabiot will earn €3.5 million net, but in the following seasons, should Milan qualify for the Champions League, his salary will exceed €4 million. He has therefore accepted a pay cut and, in the season leading up to the World Cup, has challenged himself just to work again with Allegri, “the coach with whom I experienced the two most important seasons of my career,” as Adrien said in the past. Marseille will receive 10 million euros, including a 1 million euros bonus linked to Milan’s results. A percentage of this sum was due to the player and his mother-agent Veronique: originally set at 30% of the total, they renounced half of it to facilitate the transfer. Rabiot will arrive at Milanello on Tuesday the 10th or Wednesday the 11th, as he will be with France on Monday the 9th for a World Cup qualifying match against Iceland.

It should be noted, however, that Rabiot will not wear his beloved number 25, which he had at both Juventus and Olympique Marseille. Why? On Friday at the Via del Mare, that number was already on the back of Cheveyo Balentien, the Dutch youngster born in 2006, purchased for Milan Futuro, who made his first-team debut replacing Gimenez. The possibility of signing Adrien only became concrete in the minds of the Rossoneri directors between Friday and Saturday; otherwise, Balentien would have been assigned a different number. Now the former Marseille midfielder will have to choose from the numbers still available.

Rabiot is a leader:

Adrien will bring “strength, elegance, and experience”, three qualities highlighted by the club in the statement announcing his signing. Adrien knows what it takes to win and what Allegri expects from him, having spent three years together at Juventus. The two have been in frequent contact in recent days and are pleased to be working together again.
