As reported by Spanish news source MARCA, Milan target Rodrigo de Paul is reportedly very interested in joining Atletico Madrid. Simeone from Madrid has had interest for the Argentine in years past, and this summer could be the summer the club finally pays the expensive price tag for the midfielder. The case of de Paul's potential move has attracted the attention of Mino Raiola, as the Italian super agent will aid in negotiations with Madrid and the Argentine.
De Paul is interested in leaving Udinese, as he wishes to play for a bigger and more competitive club. Milan and Atletico have both been following the 27-year-old, but the Spanish club appears to be leading the race thus far. The player stated in a public interview his view on the future:
"I have been very sincere and clear with those who should be sincere and clear. I have told them what I think and what I want. I am 27 years old. I am not going to speak about anything else because I respect everyone, especially the Udinese fans who have shown me their affection,".
Atletico is currently negotiation with Udinese to lower the 40 million euro asking price that the Italian club seeks for their player. Udinese owes other clubs 20% of the sale price for de Paul, so it is expected they will be holding very firm on their price point. Atletico hopes to lower the price by offering younger prospects, but no deal has been accepted by the Italian club as of now.
De Paul is reportedly very keen on joining the Spanish side, and has engaged in many talks with Simeone and management. The feat of signing the player will not be simple, however, as there is a significant gap in the asking and offer price. Milan, unfortunately, are behind in negotiations of the player, and will likely need a significant falling out between the player and Madrid to have a shot at signing the talent. Milan may be in need of a new number 10 if Hakan Calhanoglu does choose to walk away from the club. Maldini and Massara will still be in negotiation with the club in Udine, but the player is looking more and more likely to be headed to Spain.
