At the moment, everyone at the Rossoneri club is focused on qualifying for the Champions League because finishing in the top four is crucial for Milan’s immediate future. Then, once that objective is achieved, there will in all likelihood be a revolution on the pitch and perhaps even off it, given that sporting director Igli Tare’s position does not seem so secure despite having a contract until 2027.
This was reported this morning by Tuttosport, which added that there could be renewed interest between the Diavolo and Tony D’Amico, the current Atalanta executive who had already been linked with the club on Via Aldo Rossi last summer during the search for Milan’s new sporting director. His work in Bergamo appears to be nearing its end and he feels ready to make the step up to a major club. For this reason, the Rossoneri’s interest does not leave him indifferent — in fact, it strongly appeals to him. However, attention should also be paid to the Roma option, where there is a coach like Gian Piero Gasperini who rates him very highly and would gladly welcome him in place of Frederic Massara.
But D’Amico, who has a contract with Atalanta until 2027, is also highly regarded by the top management at Casa Milan, and for this reason his name remains among the most authoritative candidates should there be changes within the club’s management structure. Tomorrow evening, the Nerazzurri sporting director will be at San Siro for Atalanta’s league match against the Diavolo, and perhaps it could provide the opportunity for new contact between the parties.
