After Sunday's last league match against Cagliari, which will determine whether Milan qualify for next season's Champions League, Luka Modrić's future will become a bit clearer.
His contract expires on 30 June, but there is an automatic renewal option for another season in favour of the club. If it were up to Milan, the extension until 2027 would already have been completed, but the club's management wants Modrić's approval before moving forward.
Modrić has not set formal conditions, but there are two key factors that could convince him to stay for another year in red and black: playing in the 2026–27 Champions League, a competition he has won six times, and the continued presence of Massimiliano Allegri as coach.
Naturally, he is also taking time for personal reflection, especially considering he will turn 41 on 9 September.
