Milan wanted to move quickly to get ahead of the competition, and they have done so by completing the first major signing of the Italian summer transfer window: in recent hours, the Rossoneri finalised the arrival of Gonçalo Ramos from PSG. The Portuguese forward, who was Ruben Amorim's absolute first-choice target, joins for a record fee of more than €70 million, including the fixed amount and bonuses. It is the most expensive transfer in the history of the club on Via Aldo Rossi.
Gonçalo Ramos chose AC Milan:
This morning, 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' reports that the player's own determination was also decisive in the negotiations. Ramos had many clubs interested in him, but he chose Milan. The same applied to the Rossoneri, who had several other names on their shortlist, but Gonçalo Ramos had always been at the very top. He has already completed his routine medical examinations in Florida, where he is training with the Portugal national team for the World Cup. Signing a striker was Milan's top priority, and now that their new number 9 has arrived, the focus shifts to strengthening the squad in other areas.
Milan to reinforce the team further and aims to keep its stars:
Milan now have two main objectives: to bring in another two or three high-quality signings during the transfer window and to keep hold of their key players, particularly captain Mike Maignan, Adrien Rabiot, Christian Pulisic, and Luka Modrić. Rafael Leão, however, is no longer included in that group. He effectively ruled himself out with comments in which he declared that he considered his time at Milan to be over, although he later tried to repair the relationship after learning that his fellow Portuguese, Amorim, would be appointed as head coach.
